Yarra Shade custom design and build shade sails in any shape. We use heavy duty commercial shade cloth including Comshade 90, Commercial 95 and Monotec 370. These fabrics are our choice of shade cloth given their high rate of UV protection, strength and durability. This criteria for shade fabric ensures our shade sails provide you with a long lasting investment in your health and safety.
A key part of providing shade cover that lasts for 15 years is making sure you use quality fittings that can withstand Australia’s weather conditions. We make certain our shade sails are constructed using 316 marine grade stainless steel fittings. These fittings are renowned for their quality and are extremely well respected across the trade and construction industries. The fittings we use for shade sails are D shackles, eyebolts, turn buckles or stainless steel chain for large structures.
Our shade sails offer flexibility in design with their ability to attach to both poles firmly secured to the ground using concrete and building structures. Building attachments can be to the roof using a mast or wall frame, or to the corners of brick walls.
“It is important to note when you’re considering investing in shade cover that the face of brick walls are generally not strong enough to attach to.”
Wall fixings can either be via brackets or plates bolted to the frame of the house for maximum strength or sealed to the side of the house with rope track.
Given our shade sails provide quality shade, UV protection and some weather protection capacity they are perfect for:
To ensure safety and quality standards we will only attach shade covers to buildings that are structurally sound. If your building does involve additional work in order to safely secure a shade cover, you will only be charged at cost for the additional labour and materials. This is an additional customer service we provide.
Although extreme care is taken we ask that the owners of the property inform us of any underground services that would be in the vicinity of the post holes. Any time lost and damage to machinery is passed on at cost as opposed to commercial rates. We provide an underground service inspection at cost price of $300 + GST if you’re unsure or prefer the added piece of mind. However, this inspection does not always discover all services.
You will need a Registered Building Practitioner - Shade Structures to provide you with a building permit if your sail is over 20m2, or 3.5m high or 2.5m in front of your house. Yarra Shade Co. are Registered Building Practitioners.

Please note that our warranties do not include wind and weather damage.
“It is important to note that many shade sail companies state they their products come with an all inclusive 10 year warranty when they actually provide no actual warranty or perhaps a 1 year and the 10 year warranty is purely in relation to the fabric UV degradation. This means manufacture and installation failures are not covered in the warranty.”
